26 April 2017
Owning a News and Booze store in Hull, UK, the 49-year-old Punjabi aunty Karamjit Sangha was threatened by a robber with a seven-inch knife to hand over her cash. The unflustered lady told the robber that he would have to wait until she had finished her tea.
Karamjit was having her cup of tea when the robber holding the seven-inch kitchen knife came in. The robber told her to give him all the money but the Punjabi lady was all relaxed instead of being scared. To add over, she told him to wait until she finished her tea.
“I was just sitting there having my cup of tea when he came in holding this 7-inch kitchen knife. He told me to give him all the money, but I was relaxed. I told him I was having a cup of tea,” Reports News18
The robber demanded to put the cup down and give him the money, to which Karamjit replied “OK” and picked up the craft knife and waved it at him. She didn’t intend to hurt him, but it was all needed to scare him. The robber did get scared. He started shaking and in sometime ran off.
On filing a complaint against him, he was jailed for a total of five years at Hull Crown Court for being guilty of attempting robbery and possession of a knife.
When asked Karamjit, how did she feel about the incident, she said, “Something like this has never happened to me before. But people shouldn’t feel sorry for me; they should feel sorry for him. He just got scared and that was it.”
Karamjit is Woman Of Courage because she tackled such a situation calmly and patiently without being frightened or scared. She stood high faced and strong in dealing with a robber in her own store.
